Heating and Air Conditioning in Venice: One System, One Quote

If you need heating and air conditioning in Venice and you would rather buy one system than two, a heat pump does both jobs. We install them in bungalows, condos and duplexes, and the quote is written before work starts. Send us the address and a photo of your panel and we will price the job on paper.

What heating and air conditioning costs in Venice

For a typical 1,200-square-foot Venice bungalow, a single-zone heat pump install runs between $4,800 and $7,500 depending on electrical panel capacity and whether your existing ductwork passes a Title 24 leak test.

That range covers one system that heats and cools. Two things inside it decide where you land:

  • Panel capacity. A heat pump runs on electricity, so it adds load. If your panel has room, the tie-in is simple. If it does not, panel work goes on the quote as its own line.
  • Duct leak test. If the existing ducts pass, they stay. If they fail, sealing or partial replacement is added before the system can be signed off.

Larger homes, two-story layouts and duplexes are priced on their own quote, not stretched from the bungalow range. Your written quote names every line, and you approve it before anything starts.

Why a heat pump fits heating and air conditioning in one job

A separate furnace and AC means two pieces of equipment, two permits worth of paperwork and two outdoor and indoor footprints to fit on a small lot. A heat pump replaces both with one outdoor unit and one indoor unit on a ducted house, so there is less to place and less to price.

Electric service in Venice comes from LADWP, and gas from SoCalGas. If you are weighing a heat pump against keeping a gas furnace, the quote can show both so you compare real numbers. We install either and we do not push you toward one.

The Venice installation problems we plan for

Our service pages are blunt about these, so here they are:

  • Placement. Walk-street bungalows and canal-front homes can leave nowhere to set a full-size outdoor unit. We plan the location at the visit, around narrow setbacks, so you do not get a code problem after the install.
  • Salt air. Equipment near the shoreline needs corrosion-rated coils from day one. We specify that in the quote when it applies.
  • Older construction. Venice has 1920s bungalows with thin single-pane walls and additions that have no heat source at all. Sizing the system to the house, not to a rule of thumb, matters for those.
  • Marine-layer nights. Damp evenings chill a place faster than the thermometer suggests. The heat side of the system has to handle that.

If the house has no ducts, we say so and price a ductless option instead. See ductless mini split installation for how that job works.

Permit and code checks

Replacing a furnace, heat pump, AC or ductwork in California is permitted work. In the City of Los Angeles, which includes Venice, the permit comes from LADBS. We pull it and list it in the quote.

Depending on the scope of the job, Title 24 Part 6 can require duct sealing and a duct leakage test. A third-party HERS rater who is not the installer verifies it. New residential split AC and heat pump systems are now made with lower-GWP refrigerants such as R-454B or R-32, so the equipment on your quote reflects that. Efficiency is rated in SEER2 and HSPF2, and we put the ratings of the unit we recommend on the quote.

What the visit looks like

  • You send your address, the home size and a photo of the panel.
  • A technician checks access, the outdoor unit location, the panel and the duct condition.
  • You get a written estimate on the spot, and no work starts until you approve the price.
  • We schedule a follow-up inspection after install to confirm refrigerant levels and catch early corrosion.

Details on the install side are on our heating installation page, and the neighborhood we work from is the Venice area page.

Heating and air conditioning FAQ

Can one system handle both heating and cooling?

Yes. A heat pump heats and cools from the same equipment, which is why it is priced as one job. A house with an existing furnace can also keep it and add cooling, and we quote that route if you ask.

Does my panel need an upgrade?

That depends on the capacity you have now and the load of the system. We look at the panel at the visit. If work is needed, it appears as its own line on the quote.

Who issues the permit?

LADBS issues permits for work in Venice. We pull it as part of the job.

What if my old ducts fail the leak test?

Sealing or partial replacement is added to the job before the system can be signed off. The quote lists it so you see the cost before you approve.

Can I get gas heat instead?

Gas in Venice is supplied by SoCalGas, and we install gas heating as well. Ask for both options on one quote and compare them.
