If your air conditioner in Venice has a failed coil, the choice in front of you is a new coil or a new unit, and the answer depends on the numbers. We inspect, write both options down and you decide. Request your AC coil replacement quote here and include a photo of the outdoor unit.
What sets the price of an AC coil replacement in Venice
We do not put one number on a coil from a phone call, because the price depends on which coil it is and what the unit around it looks like. The quote is written after the inspection and before any work starts.
These are the lines that move it:
- Which coil. The outdoor condenser coil and the indoor evaporator coil are different parts on different jobs. The indoor coil sits in the air handler or above the furnace, and reaching it takes more labor than the outdoor one.
- Unit match. A new coil has to suit the rest of the system, the refrigerant it uses and the indoor unit it works with.
- Refrigerant. The system is evacuated and recharged. If the unit runs R-22, repairs depend on reclaimed refrigerant, since R-22 is no longer produced.
- Corrosion damage. Salt-air damage to condenser coils costs more, because it is widespread in Venice properties west of Lincoln Boulevard. It can spread past the coil to fins and electrical contacts.
- Access. Narrow side yards, rooftop units and shared walls change the labor.
We do not print a repair price because the fault decides it, and a coil is no exception. It is priced from the inspection.
New coil or new unit
The question on every coil quote is whether the coil is worth repairing. We give you both numbers on paper:
- A coil replacement, with parts, labor and refrigerant itemized.
- A new condensing unit or full system, so you see what the replacement route costs.
If the coil is the only failed part and the rest of the unit is sound, a coil is a repair. If salt air has worked on the cabinet, fins and electrical connections as well, the new unit quote may be the better buy, and the paper shows why. We do not refuse repairs and we do not steer a coil job into a sale. The comparison is yours to make.
If you want the replacement side priced in detail, our AC installation page covers it.
Salt air and the coil you replace it with
Condensers within a few blocks of the sand need corrosion-rated coils from day one. Standard units on canal-side installs can fail early. When the replacement goes in, we specify coated, corrosion-resistant coils for coastal Venice so the new one is built for the same air that killed the last one.
After an install or major repair we schedule a follow-up inspection to catch early corrosion, confirm refrigerant levels and verify the system is holding efficiency. Rinsing and salt deposit cleaning are part of our coastal maintenance visit, which you can book once the repair is done.
Permit and refrigerant rules
A coil swap on its own is a repair. Replacing the whole AC is permitted work in California, and in the City of Los Angeles LADBS issues the permit. If your quote moves to a full replacement, we pull it. New residential split AC and heat pump systems are now made with lower-GWP A2L refrigerants such as R-454B or R-32, so a new unit in the quote reflects that.
What the visit looks like
- You send the address, a photo of the outdoor unit and the data plate if you can read it.
- A technician inspects the coil, the cabinet, the electrical connections and the refrigerant charge.
- You get a written estimate on the spot with the repair and replace options.
- No work starts until you approve the price.

AC coil replacement FAQ
Is the evaporator coil or the condenser coil failing?
Both coil types fail, and they are different jobs. The outdoor condenser coil is exposed to salt air. The indoor evaporator coil sits in the air handler and takes more labor to reach. The inspection tells us which one you have. Can you replace just the coil on a unit near the beach?
Yes, if the rest of the unit is sound. Salt air can also damage the cabinet, fins and contacts, so we check them and write both the repair and the replacement option.Does the new coil need to match my unit?
It has to suit the system, the refrigerant and the indoor unit it works with. We confirm that from the data plate and write the part on the quote.Do you work on older R-22 systems?
We can repair them, but R-22 is no longer produced, so the repair depends on reclaimed refrigerant. The quote states what that means for your unit. What should I send to get the quote started?
Your address, a photo of the outdoor unit and its data plate. That is enough to schedule the inspection.Call (877) 359-5942 and Venice Breeze HVAC will book your Venice coil inspection.
